How It Works

Pre-Surgery Process

01. INITIAL PLASTIC SURGERY CONSULTATION

No matter if we’re your top choice or if you have a list of surgeons you want to check out, it’s important to meet your surgeon and consult with him or her and their team. Woodstock Plastic Surgery offers consultations with Dr. Steven Bailey for a fee of $150. After your visit with Dr. Bailey you will sit down with a member of our surgical team to go over your detailed quote and answer any follow up questions. If you are ready to proceed with your surgery, we require $1,000.00 deposit. This deposit does go towards the total of your procedure.

02. PRE-OP APPOINTMENT

The preoperative appointment is with your nurse and surgeon. During this visit, which is usually 1-2 weeks prior to your surgery, we will:
Review your operative plan and the informed consent materials
Take “before” photos of the area(s) receiving enhancement from multiple angles
Review preoperative and postoperative guidelines
Review prescriptions for pain or antibiotics Answer any lingering questions

THE DAY OF SURGERY

03. THE DAY OF SURGERY & 24 HOURS AFTER

First take a deep breath and relax! You are in highly skilled hands. If you are having surgery at our facility, you will receive a call the day before surgery from our office to review guidelines important to your safety and provide you with arrival time. Take it easy and get to bed early before your big day. If you are having surgery at one of our affiliate hospitals, their office will reach out to you to provide their own instructions and time of arrival the day before surgery.
You will see your surgeon the morning of your surgery to review the operative plan, make operative markings, and ensure you know what you are consenting to.

How long is surgery?

The length of your surgery will depend on which procedure(s) we perform. We can combine procedures.

What procedures go well together?

Some procedures are especially complementary to one another. Such as:
Mommy Makeovers- combining body lifting, tummy tuck, and a breast procedure Liposuction and Body lift
Tummy Tuck and Liposuction
Breast augmentation & Breast lift
It is important to find a family member or friend to drive you the day of surgery and the following day for the first postoperative appointment.
Your first preoperative visit is usually the day or 2 days after surgery. You will see your surgeon who will evaluate the area and incisions (s), change dressings if necessary, and provide additional instructions or prescriptions based on your condition.

How it Works Post-Surgery

04. 3 TO 5 DAYS POST-SURGERY

In your immediate postoperative visit, your surgeon will advise you on when your sutures or stitches can be removed. For most patients, it’s about 5 days after surgery. If drains are placed during your surgery, they will remain in place on average 10-14 days. Once you have been cleared to have your drains removed, our experienced staff will remove them at our office.
Most patients will need at least 3-5 days of close care after surgery. During that period, you will need to take pain medication, sleep well, drink A LOT of water, and eat extremely healthy. During these first few days, you are not to care for children, or work inside or outside the home.

05. 1 TO 4 WEEKS POST-SURGERY

You will have 1-week, 1-month, 3-month, 6-month, and 1-year follow-ups at our office to allow us to continue monitoring your healing journey.
Expect bruising, swelling, and soreness/tenderness now and for the next several weeks. At this time, we may advise you to begin massages, taking walks around the house or out to the mailbox. It is important to ease back into all activities and continue to take it easy until you’re at least 3 weeks post-op. Depending on how you feel, you may get back to work at the 2 or 3-week mark, though you should still avoid strenuous activities- including exercise, continue to drink lots of water, and eat nutritious meals.
Post-surgery complications are rare. However, if you experience any of the following, it is important to give Woodstock Plastic Surgery a call:
When to Call Us
You experience a fever of 101 degrees or higher
You experience significant bleeding or pain
You have difficulty breathing
You cannot urinate
If your stitches or incision rupture
If you notice any abnormal discharge at the incision site
The most common cosmetic surgery complication is infection at the incision sites. You can avoid this by following your surgeon’s post-operative instructions to a T!

06. 6 WEEKS TO 12 WEEKS POST-SURGERY

At your 6-week post-op appointment, your surgeon should clear you to resume most of your regular activities, including exercise. Swelling will subside and you can start to see the ultimate results of your procedure.
Your final postoperative appointment with your surgeon will be At your 12-week post-op. We will take your final “after” photos ot compare with the “before” pictures and will discuss the best ways to maintain your results.
